Oily water Surface

Dear All

Kindly advice on how should i go about removing oil from the water surface??

Is there any product that helps remove or adsorbs the oil??

Currently, I using a surface skimmer.

Just wondering is there any other products or idea??

A surface skimmer like a overflowis the best way i can think of to remove film on the surface.. other than that, you can try to manually scoop it out or do water changes.

Dont know of any products that remove surface film...

I think there are products around but not for domestic used.

Only for major Oil spills...........

LOL you dont want to use chems used to clean oil spills.. just good ol water changes will do the trick

what do you feed your fish? mammal flesh and some saltwater fish flesh have a tendency to cause oily deposits...

maybe try a sponge or a stretched-out cloth?

i'm also facing this problem recently..i guess its not so much about wat u feed more about the water parameter changes i guess...i am using IOS never have such problem in the past regardless of wat i feed.lately i realised the oily surface too getting on my nerves...

i get this when feeding white fish and good surface movement keeps it down to a certain degree but frequent water changes sort it for awhile anyway.

If you're using a surface skimmer like the ehiem or fluval ones, they are too small. Use an overflow box/prefilter unit if you can.

Not sure....shot in the dark here, try using a coffee filter, it might trap the oil well.
