The cheasiest part I have ever seen used on a filter :nilly: I was so gentle with it after my eheim tap valve incident and the thing broke like a damn potato chip.

Ok done venting. I broke the part that locks in one side. I kind of put it back the way it was sitting and hooked up the filter... Am I in danger doing this?

Seriously some of this aquarium parts are so easy to break and its so damn irritating :(

Replaced it today.... Seriously this part must be a prime example of planned obsolescence

Anyone else break it ?

one of the clips on mine broke. But that was after it was 12 years old.

I vaguely remember reading about some other people breaking them. I've got two 404s, mine are still intact but I don't take that piece off very often.

Yea! my impeller cover clips broke on my 405 so i got a new part,i open up the 405 for cleaning a few weeks later and saw that the clip had broken by its self... AGAIN!! Then my 405 started leaking ALOT all of a sudden.I got rid of the filter a few weeks ago,the only fluval i like is the fx5...the 405 sucks! Im replacing the 405 with a Rena XP4.

I have 3 404's and 1 405. 2 are in a box of misc parts 2 are running one in a bucket because it keeps leaking. I have 3 fx5's love those! 404, 405 will never own another!

Getting discouraged here... I got an eheim 2215 as a backup should it fail. But most likely I would just add another AC110 in the fluvals place. But it works well... For now....

You posted about eheim parts earlier giving you problems, you seem to have lots of problems

Mr. Positive steps in!!!!

Tcar I run 2 404s and I don't think I ever even touched that part. Sorry to hear about your issues. My 404 are kind of temp filters on temp tanks though. I don't really do much maint. on them except for media changes and what not.

Ha ha ha i laughed so hard when i saw this thread i am one of the statistics straight out of the box i broke a clip off the side the filter ran without it forever tho.
