Can you prefilter the intake?

i have moved the stand pipe in the water collum and covered the top inlet to itbut i have two more deeper in the tank
i'll have to wait and see what happens nowif they do get in the collum i can catch them in it when they get bigger

pic's are'nt to great i have a huge pile of driftwood and rocks in this corner
of the tank and havent cleand the inside of the tank in this spot in a while
