Ok, I just have to post!....Plus...Got a queation! =D

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Soak with vinegar is the key, not just scrubbing with it, that's from my personal experience.

I saw the gf wants to do a salt water tank but any idea what you want to stock these tanks with?

Yep. Fill them up and come back in a few hours, most things will rub right off with bare hands. On glass tanks, I've been using cheap scrubbies without so much as a scratch. Just don't push hard, move quickly in circles.

Aquaclear sponges work, too!

Girl friends always win, it wont do you any good. Just give her the three tanks.lol
LOL! SHH! Now she will really be giving me hell! lol But yeah, I am sure she will END UP with 3, but I am also teaching her along the way. AKA, I take care of her tanks while she learns. :nilly: So, giving her 3 right off the bat is going to be....well, a lot of work for me since I will also be setting up 2 to 6 more tanks. Ah, the joys of life...lol

I have been wanting to do saltwater for years, but since we are going to be moving soon, I decided to wait till after (so has she). While waiting, we have picked a good line up of SW fishes. She, wants to stick to the basics, blue & yellow tangs, clowns, dottybacks & maybe some bartlett's anthias (Think that is right). She will most likely end up with the 50 gallon and one of the bigger ones which I believe is around 100 gallon (plus a 3rd now! lol)

I myself am mostly going to be sticking with Discus, clown loaches, tinfoil barbs & maybe a few killfish for my FW setups. For SW, will be again going the basics, tangs, clowns, MAYBE lionfish if I have the room, butterflys, ect. Plus a wide assortment of corals and anemones, providing that all the stock is alright with it. :D

On the cleaning notes!
Thanks!!!!! :D
I was wondering if I was going to have to soak them with the cleaning solution, now I know for sure that is what I will do (& will try the AC sponges also). A couple of them I will not be able to do since they need rims before I will be OK with filling them, but will work on that too. Will post updates as I get all these tanks going (and I learn more what I have! since I still have some coming :headbang2)

Thanks again everyone!

Somebody mentioned making a paste with vinegar and Baking soda? Would be worth a search...

Baking soda and vinegar erupt in a chemical reaction...Unless the paste left after is what your talking about, I do not think that would work..... BUT, I will look, ask and search around... Thanks for the idea!

The chemical reaction is the REASON it is such an effective cleaning agent!

But, NEVER mix vinegar and bleach! Unless you're planning on starting some chemical warfare...
