What am i doing wrong... Three of the four cichla have white spots on there eyes... I just got over this with one of my cichla about a week or so ago... WHAT AM I DOING WRONG????????

I removed all the rocks... all i have in there now are three fake plants... Do i take them our now?

Everytime i walk up to the tank the two bigger ones FREAK out and thrash every where, and now the two smaller ones are doing the same... What do i need to do?

From what ive heard thats from poor water conditions. Mostly from not doing enough water changes. And I bet your water parameters are jacked up too. Post some stats on your water, and I would start doing 25-50% water changes every day starting right now. Make sure you keep the temp at 86-87.

I had a small Mono in a tank at work with the same problem. No one had cleaned the tank for a few weeks. I did a daily 50-75% waterchange till it went away. What kind of filtration do you have? What size tank are they in?

I have 2 emporer 400's on a 60 gal. grow out tank. I just did a 25 gal water change and added salt.

They are not the best Biological HOB filters, they're good for mechanical filtration, but they don't hold a lot of media. Put an Aquaclear 110 there and fill it with ceramic bio balls, nothing else, just ceramic bio balls.

And check the water parameters, if the pH fluctuates from one water change to the other ...if it does, then you need some aragonite sand 5-10lbs for the 60gal would suffice. Reason for that is to maintain the pH at a constant level, it won't crash with aragonite.

Filter is a major issue, as mentioned, just because there's not enough bio, every time you do a water change there's an ammonia spike. Get an AQ110 or a canister (XP2, 3, or 4, Fluval 405, Eheim if you have some spare coins) ...but you definitely need more biological filtration.

Good luck.

dont give up :)

its definitely your water quality ..

test your water and post the results, .. its the only way to get good answers .

without the test results .. its a guessing game .:grinno:
