not enough bio in your filters ..

how long was the tank up before adding the P's ? .. It may not be fully cycled .. if thats the case .. go to the LFS and get some bio-spira and add it to the tank .. it will speed up the process. ..

upgrade the filter as soon as you can.

i would guess between the fact you have ammonia and that pH is getting kinda low, that would be why you're bass are getting white spots like those above mentioned. Like Marius said the aragonite sand will help to buffer the pH of your tank, the ammonia will naturally drive the pH down and there is a point it can get too low.

The sand helps add some hardness to the water. Kh and Gh. Your water is very soft to come out of the tap at 6.0 so your hardness is probably way low as well. Hardness stabilizes ph. Low ph is good for cichla though. I wouldnt say under 6.0 is good but 6-6.8 is great. Are you conditioning your water with something like prime or stress coat? If not you might want to start. Need to get the chlorine and chloramine out of your water..wreaks havoc on your bacteria

I had this same problem on a smaller tank. It was the filtration system. Do like everyone has said and you should be fine. I did a 25% water change daily and it cleared up eventually. It was a filtration prob for sure. What kind of filters are you putting on the 200? Like I said listen to the guys here and you should do fine.

I am using API stress coat... and everytime i do a water change im using TetraAqua Aquasafe "neutralizes chlorine, chloramines, and heavy metals.
