Guys, i just do not get it. It seems like i am plagued with more tank problems than anyone ive ever met in my entire life. Its seriously one thing after another. I made a post this past week about some of the issues ive been having with my 55g planted tank and took some suggestions and its worked somewhat but i was a fool to think that i would be out of the woods. This past Wednesday i bought a 50 dollar piece of driftwood and the best looking most healthy anuba plant we had in the store...there was not one blemish on this entire plant, and i paid 20 for it. THE NEXT MORNING i have a circle of yellow on the one leaf and it starts dying off. Well fast foward to today...there are two leaves floating in the tank and i look at the stem is starting to die so the whole EFFING plant is dying off. I DONT UNDERSTAND. I have the proper lighting, use flourish tabs and excel, temp is good, do regular water changes, everything is up to standards but NOTHING seems to live in my tank. Im getting so frustrated with this its almost starting to make me not wanna be in the hobby anymore. i put in so much effort to maintain this tank and its just plain not working. If you guys want pics and or more info just let me know but i could really use some help/support/suggestions here because im starting to become very discouraged. thanks..

Is your ph markedly different to the shops water? Also, do you have co2 injection?

Im not sure about the stores water, but i can run a ph test on mine tomorrow and find out both mine and the stores.....im not running c02 but im planning on trying some type of diy system to help. a few plants in my tank are healthy and some are dying.

Do you have a water softner? I'm not a planted tank expert but I think the salt that a water softner uses to soften the water could be harmful to the plants.

If anything don't give up fish keeping. Just throw in the towel on life plants. I just did myself. I spent over 200$ on correct substrate, lighting, co2, special ordered plants, ferts, etc. and my entire 50$ order died and every other plant I tried besides sword plants.

I was using T5 lighting on a 4 hr 1 hr off 4 hr timer, flourish fert, flourite substrate, co2 injection, everything, and still died. I just gave up on plants completely. Even on the threads I made on another forum site for plants everyone was like "your doing everything you need to I'm not sure."

You guys might just be experiencing "melting," NOT plants dying. A lot of people start a planted tank and all their new plants melt and they give up, not realizing those plants would likely bounce back perfectly well if trimmed and they waited it out.

Live plants take time, research, and PATIENCE to get right. Don't just give up if you don't get it right away, what would the world be if everyone did that with anything difficult?

And remember, anyone with half a brain can order a big tank and throw a couple monster fish in it, but very few people (relatively) can create and keep a healthy and attractive planted tank.
