You guys might just be experiencing "melting," NOT plants dying. A lot of people start a planted tank and all their new plants melt and they give up, not realizing those plants would likely bounce back perfectly well if trimmed and they waited it out.

Live plants take time, research, and PATIENCE to get right. Don't just give up if you don't get it right away, what would the world be if everyone did that with anything difficult?

well i try my best to trim mine. the anubus is a different story. ill post a pic of it the first day it went in. the stem is literally rotting away. im deff gonna wait this one out as long as i can because its such a nice plant.

Maybe the rhizome was damaged during transport? That would do it... They're TOUGH plants, it should bounce back.

I Dont know if its gonna bounce back...ive lost two leaves because the area where they are connected to the stem is rotting away. i had a new leaf growing and it turned yellow. im really crossing my fingers.

Mine definitely wasn't a melt. I know all about the melt period some plants go threw and mine shriveled up and rotted into nothing. I didn't give it one try. I did three separate tries and gave up. The last time I actually thought I was getting a melt down on one bundle since it was dying away but had green strands growing from it but 3 weeks later it was a pile of dead rotted moosh on the substrate.

i had a huge problem with black hair algae for a while, it would just consume the plant until it had no leaves left. my dwarf grass just started breaking apart and floating around the tank and its not growing at all, my anubus is rotting, my indigus? has black hair, my sword has black hair...its just a mess.

Dont Get Frustrated Sir. Patience is Very Important in our Fish Hobby. If you made mistakes then learn from it. if you think there is some sort of a problem then acquire knowledge about it.

Drift Woods increases the Acidity of the Water. so maybe the water from the shop is more alkaline than with yours now. Anubias are very flexible plants it can accomodate about 9pH.

I just dont understand how it could start rotting so fast. I talked to my boss and my coworker about it who know everything about everything in the hobby have no idea why my tank is sucking so bad. its just frustrating. its not all about the money i just feel bad watching such a beautiful plant die at my hands.

I don't bother w/ live plants. Had them in an old fish tank and they just brought in snails. They took over my tank and I've been done w/ plants since then. Boiling everything then those little ba$tards come back!:irked::irked: Aggggghhhh I DISPISE snails, evil creatures. Unless you like swarms of little snails.:screwy: If u get snails, u'll soon have a snail tank, not a fish tank. K, rant done!:D For me, plants are just one more thing to worry about :) You can have a cool fishtank w/o plants. If you keep ur plants, good luck to you!

Well for me id say more than half the fun of the hobby is creating the ecosystem. fake plants just dont do it for me, i like to feel like im looking at nature through glass. My mystery snails spawned a couple months ago so i had about 30 of them in my tank, still pretty small so just as a precaution i took em all out and put them in a ten gallon to grow out some more
