ok so what do the poly experts think

Ok This is the one i already had if possible i need an id on him cause petsmart like to give there polys prehistoric names. He is alot lighter in color now
And Here is the little guy i bought yesterday, labled Polypterus Palmas is that right?? he is really skinny and ate bunch of worms as soon as he got in the tank, he looks very young

Both of the fish in the previous post are Polypterus senegalus. Unfortunately what your LFS sold you as Polypterus palmas really isn't one.
P. senegalus undergoes a considerable change in pattern from baby to young adult. The babies have longitudinal stripes that gradually disappear as the fish grows until they finally are completely gone (or represented by only a series of small black dots). The adult coloration, of course, is an overall grayish or brownish color with no distinctive pattern.

I think we need some baby palmas pictures for everyone to see so they don't get screwed so easily by buying mislabeled senegals.
im going to call the store that sold me the fish and tell them its labled wrong, that really sux, i guess i'll find somthing besides a senagal one day, thanx for all the help
oh yea and 1 more thing, the senagal you see at the top is photo # 21 in the agust potm

sorry to hear you got ripped off, you should have used that 20 bucks to buy all those 9 dollar delhezis you were talking about....
next time try looking at the tail. juvi senegals wont have any patterns in the tail like the palmas will.
