Quite common for little Jags to be picky eaters. My 2yr old male is still refuses some foods the other fish accept. You could try some fd foods, like krill, shrimp, tubifex worms. Live earthworms are good. Boyd's VitaChem and Seachem Nourish are great vitamin supplements. Saturate the feed, dont add to the water, just wasting it that way. He should like Massivore, its a big pellet though, but you can break it up. My baby Dovii is currently eating that as most of his diet. Its like candy for carnivorous fish.

Starve the jaguar.

First jaguar i hear about that is spoiled :)

He will eat what you give him, after starving.

Omega one and Hikari gold... but as of late he got smart, and chews the fish up and spits out the pellet(s)... i still get "some" in him..

is there a vitamin i can mix into the food or the water to supplement the difference of not eating pellets (as of now)? ... if so, is it worth it? thx for the help!

As mentioned if he is being out competed for food, find a less stressful tank for him to move to until he acclimates and puts on some size.

I let my tipalia filets soak in a couple of drops of vita chem , nourish or baby liquid vitamins/min .. you can try presoaking pellets in garlic extract , lately Ive been adding Selcon or Brightwell AngeLixir drops on their massivore pellets and Tipalia .. for my larger cichlids..Good luck

Fish tend to like the flavor of garlic some fish food such as nls puts it in their fish food. I agree you need to isolate and try to ween it onto pellets. If not only offer pellets to the tank until he is so hungry he must eat the pellets. You are the boss!

thanks for all the advice guys, really appreciate it... Is there any specific type of food by nls good for my SA cichlids?

now, if i am able to get my little guy to eat pellets.. would i run the risk of him returning to his stubborn ways if i throw in a treat once a week? . I dont want to punish all my fish because of this little guy!... now i dont mean "throw in a treat" right away, id wait a while.. i just mean..... basically, anytime!

I am not sure about which NLS specific would be good .....wait for the experts to answer them.
No actually not , if you throw treats once in a week , the worst case might be , he may not eat pellets the next day , but the day after he will go for the pellets.
I had tried this on my 2 P Bass and after a long time , i got them to eating pellets and i give them a bellyful treat of Shrimps once in a week , without any backlash.

I'd try 1-2mm Thera A NLS. Fast him for three days and then offer it. If he refuses, try again in another 48 hrs. If he keeps refusing maybe try soaking them in bloodworm juice. It will give in sooner or later,
