what i really want to know is. my females pretty small and i was wondering how big does she have to be in order to breed? any signs? theres orange showing if that helps
I think my first female was only like a inch. Unfortunately the male ended up killing her. So the next female I bought was twice the size as him. And now they breed with no problems at all.
my cons breed when my female was about an inch also, the male was probably almost 2 inches, and they worked out fine, unfortunatly the pwer went out and almost all the fry died except for 4, and the new eggs they had were lost too, but i moved her to another tank with another male and they are gettin ready to have some and they have only been in the same tank for a week
dude convicts can breed in the bag on the way home.
It is harder to get them not to breed than to get them to breed.
seriously i think they would breed in a fish bowl during an earthquake while being poked with sticks.
I don't have to look at your pics to tell you YES your convicts will breed if one is a male and one is a female.
I have had convict "pairs" of sizes from 1.5 inches to 4 inch male and 2 inch female and never any problems. Most times the female is the more aggressive one to the male, but it can happen either way. With no one else in the tank, they are the least agggressive towards each other.
I've never had convicts but i have several mixed africans, that have breed and are still breeding, I've always heard keeping really good water conditions and a good stable diet will make happy fish and promote breeding. Tank looks fine to me, thats whats fun about fish keeping, do what you like with it. Good luck with the breeding.
