i dont think they do waterchanges,i think there using the water recylcer thing or the 24/7 waterchanger :D

lol okay well that makes sense.

Alright well story goes, Lei's don't get in till Wednesday, I dropped off the FH's already so he's got them. I guess its okay, I just have to be patient, but it gives me a better opportunity to learn more off these threads and prepare more.

I wanted to know if 4-5inch Lei's can be kept with 3-4inch Silver Dollars, is it possible, its just that i saw some at store, and they had ones with spots, which i thought looked better than the normal silver dollars, Or is the rule that I SHOULDN'T keep anything with it until its over 6inch?? Either way, is there anything that you guys suggest could make for a nice possible tankmate for my Lei?

I like to keep some type of small dither with leis when they are small. I've only had one, but it was the most skittish aro I've ever had. He grew out of it, but when he was small and by himself... dont look at him, don't walk past him, don't sneeze in the next room, and don't turn the lights on unless you want him to act like a pinball for a few seconds.

My skittish lei was about 7". I added small datnoids (2-3") small flag tails (3"), but what I think helped the most was the addition of 6 giant danios. They were so active he stopped even noticing me when I came to watch the tank.

He has since grown out of his skittish ways and basically goes around the tank trying to kill anything he can. (his current tank mates) The dat is too big to damage and can dish out a good whoopin himself and the polys take a few hits them run for cover.

I think he will be swimming solo again pretty soon.

My experience with leichardti is that they are easier than other aros to community with other fish other, even smaller ones, as long as you give the smaller fish a place to hide (ie plants and driftwood etc), and those fish are not surface swimmers. Again it comes down to the individual fish. From experience in general they are 1/3 less aggressive as jardinis, but 2/3 more skittish (they will jump just like silvers). As others have said don't try and community with other leichardti or other aros unless you have a spare tanks ready to split up the fish. Community may last a week, month or year. It only takes one thing to go wrong in the tank and hell can break loose.
