It's cool how the females don't exhibit red or orange on the belly. When breeding their bellies turn jet black.
. I gave a few to Gani as well. Gotta spread the conalicious goodness!Thats cool. Great job on raising them up!straitjacketstar;1149123; said:Gary got his the same place I got mine. I'm pretty sure if Gary got there before I did he wouldn't have left any Amphilophus alfari to snag either. I gave a few to Gani as well. Gotta spread the conalicious goodness!

How is the neon gourami surviving in that tank with a convict? I cant even keep dwarf gouramis with serpae tetras.canucksfan1;883220; said:I have a bunch of cons that i just got but i paln on keeping them until they are old, my biggest one i have had since it was about an inch and i got him in feb. now he is about 4 inches maybe i bit bigger
Would love to see the others too, esp the "discus convict"straitjacketstar;1146712; said:Funny thing about that.
We came home with 10 pairs of WC cons, all from the same location, and there was plenty of difference in shape to many of them. Some have the more normal thick, typical con-shape. One was reeeeeallly nice, perfect proportions in shape and body with a nice nuchal hump along with a gorgeous amber color to him. The biggest - just big and meaty. A few were really long and slender which was funny cause I had just bumped on a thread with this guy trying to ID his fish and even though it looked like a con a few folks said it couldn't possibly be cause it was "too long". We even had one that was super short and tall. Practically round. I liked to call him the "discus con". lol
As for the females, surprisingly there's not much of a notable difference between them when it comes to how they're shaped. Some are definitely more colorful than others though. Most of it happens to be in the fins. I'm amazed that this race's females doesn't get much of a red/orange spangling on the belly. In fact, now that I think about it, I don't think any of them do have spangles on the belly.![]()
