wow seems like all of these old brutes all have ripped fins...do anyone of you guys know why?

I think Gourami Swami nailed it...some big ole' Convicts just seem to develop long trailing fins IME. Look at BigSpizz's last update on his black one. Give it another year or so and I'll bet those fins will start to trail.

Here a pic of mine...about 5"TL.

Mine has never been "nipped" He is just as old as any other con I have seen on here....He is older than yours......Not 'all' cons get streaming fins...'most' cons do not get their own tanks....and are 'usually' with much much larger fish....That is just my experience though...

Here is one also not nipped that does have streamers growing to the end of his tail...He is much much younger than my oldest, he is less than 1 year old. All fish are different, and in my experience with cons, no two are the same...
