Old Old convict.

i have one that is about 4 years old, and about 5 - 6" long. I would post pics, but he is in my outdoor pond right now, so it is difficult to get pics 
I only have a few decent sized two year old males about 4-5". I'll get back to this thread in 5-7 years.

I'm gonna bookmark this page! I have three decent males, two are about two years, and one that is one year old. the one year old is already displaying a nuchal hump. A LFS has some large cons 3''-4'' for like $6 this thread make me wan't to go snag one not sure though i think i might wait till i get some extra tank space and just get a breeding pair for some feeders and grow my own large cons i wan't to make some marble Cons wish ther was a way to tell if fry are carrying the genes for it may have to do a little breeding project
props to this thread. here in ontario canada, you can pick up a 5" convict at ALOT of LFS for 5-15 dollars but theyre the typical stock Heavy striped BLAND colouring variety. I didnt know costa ricans came with that orange, reminds me of the orange on a vibrant green terror. I started with cons and now theyre not much more than feeders to me but long story short. I started my girlfriend on a 20G with 6 tiny cons. over time they got thinned out and africans replaced them one by one over time. Add a beautifull 3.5 inch GT to the mix (all under 1.5 inch but the GT is 3.5 and so mellow its somthing just to watch him co hab with everybody) anyways she got rid of most of her stock but a red zebra and the GT, a pictus cat and a trimac X flowerhorn cross. well time goes by and she gets one of her very first convicts back, the last that she gave away. he's now 2" but the colouration is crazy, caudal is pure yellow, dorsal is mixed sapphire and navy blue. its just amazing to see how he turned out with all these colours. poor guy spent the last 6 months in a 6 gallon plastic tank but he's home again and though he's alot more dominant than before, he's a part of the 20G heirarchy ie GT first Con second and everyone else 3rd lol

I crossed a pink and black about ten years ago. all the females are small with deep blue-gray bodies and jet black bars, but had yellow, blue, pink and red fins. the males mostly came out looking like a cross between a pink and black, with pinkish-purplish bodies and charcoal grey bars. I'm on the third generation from those originals now (gave the most inferior ones away, only have 7 cons right now). gonna figure out a way to post some pics, even though the only old one is the pink.
