Sorry for your loss:( But at least it sounds like it died from old age and lived a good long life.

Goodness that's old.

I really started keeping CA/SA cichlids in 2000 and still have a few originals. I wondered how long some of them could live. I figured 12 years might be possible, but 16 is insane. That had to be one well kept very healthy fish!!

Was he starting to look really rough Ken? Just trying to imagine what a fish that olf would look like.

Ken I had the fish for years. I got it early in 2002-2003. It had spent his life in an indoor pond with other fish and was 11-12" at the time.. Ken it may have been 1995 he told me he got it but I think it was 1993. When He told me it was from Rapps I ask him if he was for sure. he was postive, he even show me some fish a pet stor in nashville had got from Jeff for him in Nashville.

I gave it to ken thinking he spawing days were over, he just kept on going. When I got it he was in a pond with some 13" or so Jags that were the same age. Just think how big they are if they are still alive.

That was a cool fish. Glad he made it that long

I'm sorry for your loss, but hey you got a new batch of fry!!

Anyone who has bought regular Freddies from me in the last couple of years he was their father. He ate good, was ratty when I got him form years of living with other monsters, so I never took many pictures, he had a huge head, I would drop a hand full of large pellets down his mouth each morning, he came right to the surface and sucked them down in one bite, he was always rather fat. He stopped eating about Wendesday, I went to the beach on Friday and he died on the 4th, My dauther had to fish him out and complained he was too heavy. I'll try a pic again. Ken

Glad that worked, only clear shot (sort of lol) I could find of him, Mack may have a better one. I'll be selling his fry in August or Sept. The fermale is now with a 3 year old wild male I caught in Honduras. Ken

Sorry to hear about your lost Ken. He was definitely a brute to successfully live all those years and I hope your female hits it off with your other WC male.
