The Orfe is very common in Germany and Russia The golden variety of is has been introduced in many ornamental ponds and there is a Blue as well. They are hardy and adaptable, and are a good choice for new ponds as they are not picky about water conditions. Can grow to about 2 Ft, They are a schooling fish so a few are required.Slow growing and as you can see live a long time.

my longest kept fish still lives in my pond outside. It is a Tiger oscar that my mother thought was sick at one time... so instead of buying medicine for it like she should have she threw it outside in her game fish ponds for them to eat... Well years passed and I grew older and moved out. Well mom called me up cause she cought a fish that she didn't recognize and it turned out to be my beloved oscar... Now 18 years old and 11 or so inches long, he lives outside MY house in my Semi-stocked pond. I stocked the pond with feeders for him and he is living quite happy.

Thanks for the info Stotty. Will try to find some. It'll add variety to my pond besides the koi and goldfish.
