I am the third owner of my 320g plywood tank. I have had it for 3 years, the guy before me for about the same and the first owner was the University of Manitoba who had it I believe for about 5 years. So it's about 10 years old. I repainted it when I got it, inside and out as well as the metal stand. It is plywood/fibreglass with 3 coats of epoxy paint. The tank has 2" angle iron around all edges and has 2 2" metal braces on the top welded to the angle iron. It is very strong (and heavy).
The stand was built by the engineering department of the U of M and is made from 4" tubular steel. It is bolted together instead of welded and is super strong (and way heavier than the tank). I think they will outlast me.
