Hi,

I'm just wondering if my common olive green goldfish will eventually turns orange. Right now it's just a fry. I prefer the olive green coloration to the tradional orange. Really neat fish following me around the tank beggin for food.

It will most likely stay the color it is.

Will keep you updated. I like the original native olive green color of the goldfish. Natural fish are always the best to me. That's why i'm not a fan of fancy goldfish.

It's very unlikely for it to stay the color it is. Have many goldfish became orange at that size and had them changed at 3-4". It's rare for a mature goldfish retained a wild coloration unless you caught some from feral populations.

I'll say the opposite, I've had many goldfish this color and they have all turned orange. I had one up to 5 inches before it turned.
Completely agree with you. Goldfish can becomes orange at any size. I keeps buying wild colored feeder goldfish but they all turned into orange.

Granted they will/can change later in life but a big percentage of the spawn will retain that color. IMO

Anyone have before and after pictures of the same fish? Just curious.
