Granted they will/can change later in life but a big percentage of the spawn will retain that color. IMO

More like a very small percentage of the spawn will retaining that color. Something tells me you and Spotfin didn't raising/growing out feeder goldfish.

Yeah, I got out of GF years ago. Nowadays my breeding facilities are filled with these guys. What is your experience with breeding GFs?

I raises mostly feeder goldfish and grow them out till they're over 5" for the folks with goldfish ponds. Never had a goldfish that didn't stay brown and majority of the spawn was brown.

I think it could even be different lines may peel gold at higher rates
