I'm super tired of people comparing the two bc there is honestly no comparison. Here's a list of the first 5 ingredients of each cichlid pellet.
Hikari cichlid gold-
Fish meal, flaked corn, wheat flour, gluten meal, brewers dried yeast
Omega one super color-
Whole salmon, halibut, whole shrimp, wheat flour, wheat gluten

Let the ingredients speak for them selfs. I mean come on please stop comparing the two. By the way all fish used in omega one are grown on fish farms in America and is all made in america. And I don't wanna hear about the added vitamins bc they both have just about the same added vitamins

Hmmm....you are tired of people comparing the two brands. So your best thought was to make a thread comparing the two brands :duh:

Haha u got a point but I want ppl to realize to read the ingredients on the foods. People just assume bc the way a company promotes it's self. The same problem happens with cat/dog foods

True dat. I feed nothing but raw meat/bones/organs to my dog, because that's what they do best on, despite all propoganda by dog food companies!

I feed Omega One to my fish, they love it. I actually had some Tetra food left over from when my sister had fish, and after they started eating Omega One they refused to touch the Tetra stuff, so I just threw it out!

Man i have gotten so flammed recently from saying the EXACT same thing w/ even more stats about them. Its so ridiculous just cuz hikari is a "sponsor" we cant say anything is better. Prlly the same reason i get a "violation" every week for abbreviating dirty words!!!

Be careful the truth isnt respected amongst our elders lmao oh man another violation. Fml piranha fury here we come!

Politics are for polititions not ppl who come here to learn and share advice.

You can't really get an accurate comparison with this little bit of information. One thing that has to be understood is that ingredients are listed by weight. Hikari is using a fish meal as the main ingredient. A meal is something that has had the water removed from it, which is required to make the pellet. Omega 1 is not using a meal ingredient and is instead opting for seafood which still contains the moisture. When the water is removed the weight can be lowered by as much as 70% which could place the seafood ingredients significantly further down the list.

Good info, and of coarse Omega's marketing ploy "Check the ingredients" but they may be misleading people.
