I would do barebottom. Much easier to take care of. plus sand will cost a fortune to cover that whole tank. Any ways I don't think you should be mad at your dad for not helping you. Look what he just got you.

Well I think if it is an L shape you are going to need a filter at both ends or some current on one end. If you dont then you are going to have stagnant water in the one corner and that wont be any good. I think pool filters would work ok. You might be better off building something though.

well we kinda changed it from l shapped to something diff but its gona be slanted with a waterfall ont he top and a filter/drain on the bottom so all the water is pushed from the waterfall down to the drain
