I went in to do some laundry today and I was looking at my kiddie pool I set up for the my channel cats and my paroon sharks...one of my paroon sharks is almost as light as my albino channel cat...then I looked harder, and my other one has "fuzzy" pale spots. So I started freaking out, these are my babies....I emptied the 55 out and threw them in there, they have ick, but it is so bad thier skin is falling off, litterally, and it looks like where it has fallen off is growing a fungus. I'm doing a w/c on the 55 as we speak, I didn't do it first cause I wanted to see what was wrong with them, and you jsut can't see stuff like that looking down on them...I'm going to add salt and melafix and pimafix, that's all I've got right now, and I bumped up the temp to 82. What can I do to help them out, I can go get more meds in the morning if something else will work better, but I can't loose them to this...and I will be emptying out the pool tonight, I figure if the paroons have ick this badly then the channels need treated too, so they'll be moving back into the 55 as well. I didn't add any new fish, I've had all of these fish for 6 months, I just moved them into the pool, I don't see how they got this, unless the stress of moving can do it to them...*sigh* I'll get pics posted in a min, they look TERRIBLE....

sorry for the quality, but you can see how pale the big one is in the second pic, which really worries me, I will try to get better pics later on when I"m done messing with them.
in the first pic where you see the lighter spots, there is actually fuzzy stuff on them, like the slime coat falling off, or a fungus of some sort, like I said I'll try to get better pics later on tonight....

sorry, you're going to want this I know, just had to wait for the tests to finish:
ph 7.6
ammonia: 0
nitrite: 0
nitrate: 20ppm
and that's out of the pool they just came out of, the nitrates should be next to nothing in the 55 they just went into now that I did a w/c

if anyone else thinks it could be something besides ich let me know and tell me how to treat it....there are bumps on them like it could be ich, but they just aren't as white as ick if that makes sense...

come on guys, you know I'm not patient enough to wait an hour for a reply!
also, they are both opening and closing their mouths ALOT right now, not like a yawn, like they are talking to each other, but they are very active, I don't know if they will eat yet, we'll find that out later I guess.

Looks like velvet maybe. Could be a protazoan parasite. Salt and higher temps should help. Haven't had a fish with this in a long time. I'll have to do some research on treatments.

I think coppersafe by maradel will help.

I'll bump it up to 86 tomorrow, they came out of 76 degrees int he pool to the 82 degree tank, so I don't want to stress them any more than I have to...and the one shark looks pink in the pick, he's not, he's just lost all his color, almost looks albino, but he's not.
