The #1 way to find out for yourself what sex the fish are is to sex them yourself. Life the fish out of the water and vent them. Works 100% of the time. And if you don't know what the vent looks like please search google for "Venting cichlids". Google is there. Live by my motto JFGI, or Just Freaking Google It.
well could 2 females hook up or is it usealy the male and female when there are 5 ( now 2 bt had 5 and those 2 paired up and i got rid of the rest but no eggs yet ) they have there own caves but one goes to teh others cave and flares then they lip lock and tail whip but then go after other cichs togther then goes back to seperate caves.
