well as the title says, some of my fish are a bit retarded:headbang2:):). I have a 225 chichlid tank with some largish malawis and a rd and a jag, all are around the 10inch mark, some of the malawis are smaller. the problem is that the rd and jag only accept pellets i cant get them to eat anything else, the jag occasionly accepts feeder guppies though. However that is hardly a varied diet, what should i do

what kind of pellets? Most pellets are designed to constitute a balanced diet.

I believe the politically correct term would be "mentally challenged" instead of "retarded". My God, if you're fish could only read what you write about them.

I'm being sarcastic of coarse. :)

There's nothing retarded about that. If you're Jag is accepting pellets you should be happy. As mentioned, most high quality pellets will provide your cichlids the diet they need to stay healthy. Feeder guppies pretty much have no nutritional value compartively.

x2. as long as its a good pellet designed for cichlids, its all good.hikari makes lots of great foods and there is many other brands that do great. some fish dont like some stuff. but that doesn't make them mentally challenged. im sure there is foods you dont like. try things like fresh market shrimp and maybe small pieces of fresh fish? also my fish LOVE those bloodworm and brine shrimp cubes.

You can wrap their food in bacon, I always seem to fall for it

ya your fish aren't retarded but i did have a mentally challenged fish once... he was..."special"

ok, well i was just worried that they wernt getting the nutririon the y needed, the food im using is called ocean nutririon, and is the formula 1 marine pelet, medium size, any1 know it, its really expensive so it must be good?

try hikari nls or omega one pellets they h\make pellets specifically for cichlids.the pellet you are using is as the name says designed for marine fish ( saltwater). Im sure they probably share alot of ingredients but you should try a food made specifically for the fish you keep.
