OMG! Sand people, check this out!

So I dropped my cleaning magnet into my sand and look what I pulled out!!! All these little metal fragments from my pool filter sand.

Can other people please do this and share if they get the same results?

Luckily it doesnt seem to have effected my fish, but Ive dragged the magnet through the sand over and over again in hopes of getting it all.

My only worry is that it did effect my fish in the long term, even though I cant see anything from it now...

I wonder if all pool filter sand is made equally? This is why I am asking people to do the same!

It would be great if we could figure out which brands have these shards and which dont!!! Unfortunately I dont remember what brand I used!!!

have you ever had impeller probs? could be from that, or in food? smash up total k cereal and use mag on that. it does the same!

Guess mebbe I should get one asap. I have several tanks setup with pool filter sand.

tried it! nothing stuck to the magnet. i got my pool filter sand from "leslies pool supply"

i know you dont remember what brand or supplier but do you remember where you got your sand?

I don't know what type of sand is used in a pool filter, but I do know that if you dropped a magnet outside into the sand, you get the same results. Not sure if this helps. The Doctor.;
