A couple of weeks ago, I saw this weired looking fish at my LFS. After doing some research, I found out it is an Ompock Catfish and can get to about 12-17" in length. I did some research on it and found it to be a good companion for my Senegal Bichir and Brown African Knife (it's about the same size as my Bichir and Knife are.)

I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with them and if you can give me any pointers on their care?

Thanks,

Kash

I have one about 6 inches. Very cool looking fish. Mine spends a lot of time hiding in a cave, but when it comes out it is a pretty fast swimmer that doesn't stick to the bottom like many catfish. Fairly skittish, and I haven't been able to get it to eat anything besides feeders and pieces of fish fillet

I had an albino ompock for a few years Mine was great and I always regretted selling it. Anyways mine stayed out in the open and just chilled or cruised the tank. I never had any aggression issues and it was easy to care for.

Here's the best picture I've taken so far:

As Pudgeking said, it's pretty fast and it's hard to take a good picture of it! In the quarantine tank (which was the 10g I had my feeder guppies and ghost shrimp in), he just hid under a cave. In my regular tank which has a higher flow rate, he's been swimming around the top portion of the tank constantly and rarely ever goes in the castle occupied by the Knife fish and Bichir or the tube in the tank. I haven't seen him eat anything yet, I feed them Hikari carnivor pellets daily and I dump 10 or so feeder shrimps in there once a week as a treat and to give them some exercise.

Mine is ok he stays in the curant. But when i walk up to the tank he gois beind plants or rock.
