ok i got this crazy idea about building a tank 6x3x2. i can get a 135 for a 100 an i can get the glass to build the tank from glass cages for under 300. an i figured i could take the old bottom an sides an use them for some euro braceing . what do yall think how would the rest of yall do it

just go to a glass shop and get new glass for the bracing. It would be cheaper and you couldn't have to scrap all the silicone off and acetone it done like crazy. Plus, why waste a perfectly good 135?!?!?

the 135 has a decent chip in the bottom its missing all its trim an i can get it cheap so i can build a 269g tank for under 400 bucks an i havent seen this size footpprint either

ohhh. well i would still get a quote from the glass shop. the one center brace i just relpaced in my 240 gallon (8x2x2) rain me around 15 bucks for the glass and it cut to size and everything. If u by the tank for a 100 where ever your going to take it they are going to charge u atleast 5-10 bucks for each cut. Also my 240 is 2 feet tall and it has 3 braces. Making yours 3 feet tall is going to create a lot of pressure on those side pieces. I would do at least 4 beefy braces for you tank. However im not a expert and im not trying to shoot down ur plans or anything just trying to help you with your project and save you money.

right thanks but im not doing it 36 high its going to be 24 high a 36 front to back. an i was going to put a brace on each end maybe 6 inches wide an one two foot off the outside about a foot wide an then another one two foot off the other end a foot wide .

ahhh ok got ya

the guy said he thinks the glass is 3/8 thick but that dont sound right for an older 135 my 125 with no braceing is 1/2 glass an so is my 120 so i dont understand how a 135 could be 3/8 glass

ok my bad it will be 6ft x3ftw x25inces tall which according to the calc given by aqua tools says this will be 280 gallons

hmmm ya thats thin. do you know the footprint of the 135. and do you know how old it is

the print is 72Lx18Wx25T an i would say its kinda old but not sure how old. i can buy the tank an glass from glass cages all for like $370
