ok instead of doing it 3 feet wide im just going to go 30 inches so that will make it a 240 instead of a 280

30 inches is better. You gota think about moving it one day and 30 inches will fit through a door.

3/8" seems thin for a 25" tall tank- I can see it if the 135g was 18" tall....

before you get the 135g tank see what glass cages will charge for the brace pieces that you need in 1/2"
I dont think you want to make your bracing 3/8" if the tank is 1/2"
one last thing, if your not going to cut the donor tank yourself, all those cuts could start to add up- considering, if I remember correctly, eurobracing goes at least around the inside top and bottom perimeters of the tank, so thats 8 braces, and probably 3 more pieces for an overflow, so a total of 11 pieces of bracing- at up to $10 a piece cut, the $100 tank went to $210- I hope Im explaining my thoughts right- good luck

i understand what you are saying. i just got the phone with glasscages an they said what i had planned was fine. that my braces didnt need to be 6 inches wide but only 4 i probly wont do any braceing in the bottom i dont think it will need it.if anything i might do some corner braces some where in the bottom or the middle

i would do it, or go even bigger by building a plywood tank.

I have a glasscage tanks, im not satsified with their work at all. Im so glad i got it used, but the guy never filled it. so it was basically brand new

According to garf.org, a 24" tall tank is fine with 3/8" glass, but a 25" tank needs 1/2"...

I think you could get away with 3/8" glass, but the safety factor will not be as high as with 1/2" glass.

That being the case, its probably best to go with the thicker glass for safety.
