ok i have a 90gal tank
sump, 600 gph
AC 500, 4-500gph
and now a hot magnum, 250gph
so im doing 1300gph, a 14.5 hourly turnover rate.
i have 6 bichirs + 1 african brown knife
weekly water changes/sand vac.

since i have bichirs, is this way too much flow?:naughty:
i got the hot for polishing and my tank looks like a tornado, a clean, sexy tornado.

they poop so freaking much the water always had particles floating in it so the hot was in order.

so im asking is this too much filtration for polypterus? should i just run the hot when the water is stired up?

You can try buffering your returns with baffles or large cell/pore/weave filter material to calm thing down.

will this resistance shorten the life of the pumps?

if it is not alot of resistence no it wont hurt really try to more divert the flow though more tubing to add the the head height that will slow it down
