I think my only problem so far is with feeding it mice? Not that I am against it or anything, its just that its probably not my favorite thing to do? I am more used to getting animals OFF of live food I suppose? As far as cost goes, this is going to be NOTHING compared to keeping MOnster fish!

Most captive snakes are fed thawed mice. You have a few people that feed live, but they do it for reasons I won't mention.

Pine shavings are bad for animals, even rodents. Switch to aspen.

Why? All of the chinchilla experts I have talked to use pine.

wurm, I'm going to herps too man!

I joined corn snakes . com, and you know what we have to do as noobz, read read read

I'm going witha corn snake, but I can't pick between a blizzard (solid white) or an amelanistic striped (albino with stripes rather than the normal pattern).

Most keepers suggest a 20g L is suitable for a single adult corn. Temp gradient of 75-80 on the cool side, and 80-85 on the warm side, with a UTH (under tank heater/ adhesive heating pad, hooked up to thermostat). you also want to provide a hide on both sides.

Feeder sizes:

pinkies (newly hatched corns, feed twice a week, two pinkies)
fuzzies
crawlers
hoppers
sub adults
adults

Theres a lot lot more you need to know but this is a start, do your own leg work man! :D

Pine and cedar are known to be toxic to small animals. The acids that are associated with pine and cedar can damage the respiratory tract. Now animals can live and appear healthy on it, but the liver would be under constant stress trying to remove the toxins from the body.

There's a whole screwd of papers on the effect of pine and cedar oil on organisims from micro-organisms, to invertebrates to small animals up to humans. It is quite interesting to read about the effect the long-term exposure to cedar and pine with humans.

Bite me! I expect to be taught for free while ignoring relevant advice that I don't like and combating experts on a thread that I started soliciting advice on, just like the other newbs! :D

I always knew you were a bloody wanker! :grinno:

How about keeping tree frogs, terrestrial toads, a chameleon, and a caiman in your first 10g? Get them young though so they make friends early on. :D
