Once again my fish need a jacket...

These heaters don't actually get cracked or busted, they just stop working. I have been buying at my LFS because I like to support this guy, but in comparison to Amazon, his prices are ridiculous. Guess its time to order one. What about a controller? Do I need it?

A heater controller is a fail safe for when goes out and doesn't cook your tank. I run 2 finnex 300 heater controller on my 240. I've had them for a year. But just last month one of them was giving me a 5 degree higher reading than the other. I unplugged it and haven't been using it for a month now. But now it reads fine for some odd reason.

Tbh if you buy a eheim heater you won't need a heater controller. They are good heaters.

I've had good luck w/ Aequeons not breaking/malfunctioning (prob just jinxed myself here) but crap luck with eheim jagers. Discus guys swear by them & they do work great for a year or two but as soon as they get condensation in the tube, they lose effectiveness.

Heater controllers are awesome but only necessary if you have sensitive fish(such as discus) or if you have big temp fluctuations in the room. I have a jehmco model and think its great, but probably an unnecessary $100 spent.

I too try to support my lfs. On more than one occasion I have told them straight up how much I can get something for online and if they can order it for me and compete with that price I will buy it from them. She actually told me she appreciated me doing that because even if she only made $5, it's more than she'd make if I bought online. Also, I run a jager that I bought with a used set up 4 years ago and it's still working well. Highly impressed with it.

Where every you buy fish stuff stop.

Buy from here. They will save you a ton and basically a one stop shop. Their prices cant be beat on heaters.

The 300watt heaters were 20 and not 25... I guess they raised the price :irked: but eh still a good deal.They also have exactly what your looking for, the controller and heater
