I think maxim had a article a few years back over how much certain amounts of money weighed. and it was something like if you filled a semi trailer with money all the way so that nothing but money was in it. the tires couln't hold all the weight.

From DHS:

"Each note of US currency weighs about one gram, 454 grams make a pound. Each bill is .0043 inches thick. One million dollars in $20 bills would six stacks of bills each over three feet high and have a total weight of a little over 100 pounds."

I know some DEA agents who saw a truckload (literally a semi trailer) of money on pallets that was being used to bribe government officials. The money was confiscated before it went to the corrupt official. The drug lord was paying off someone (they never said who) under the promise that the drug lord would never be extradited to the US.

The drug lord is supposed to be in the US now awaiting trial.

Another interesting tidbit, did you know how much US money is not even held in the US?

Any guesses?

it has to be in the billions

Extra effort is going into the $100 makeover since this bill represents more than 70 percent of the $776 billion of currency in circulation, two-thirds of which is held overseas.

So $517 billion dollars of American money is held outside the US, we only have 1/3 of the total 776 billion, this figure is a little dated it is 2 years old.

in zimbabwe they are introducing 100 trillion dollar notes because of the huge inflation. 10 trillion was enough to buy a loaf of bread the other day, probably isn't anymore
