one huge tank? or several smaller ones?

Agreed. If you want to try breeding Acanthicus Adonis, 5000g would be a good start. If you have your brain spinning with ideas about themed tanks, multiple tanks would be a must.

The huge one would be my choice. 5000 gallons is big enough where even if You wanted to do something smaller like a massive school of tetras or something of that nature they would have enough area that they would be fine.

Personally I love plecos and cats, so the 5000 would allow me to finally get a rtc and a tsn along with a few species of pleco and have room for more decorative species.

Depends on what type of tank.

If it were a reef tank I'd got with the 5000 gallon. The cost will hurt, but a giant reek tank with small sharks swimming around would be freaking awesome. Maintenance would require scuba gear and chain mail but if you are doing a 5k reek cost is probably not an issue.

Same would go for a salt water fish only set up.

If these were fresh water I'd go go with 500 gallon tanks and set up various biotopes.

I'd go with the 5000 and do a complete monster setup.. big cats swimming alongside pimas, aros, northern pike, rays, channa micropeltes, channa marulia, channa marulioides, etc.. jup, I'd go with the real monster one.. :D big step anyways, my biggest now is a 300 and I'd trade a small brain dysfunction (the sort of one where people say you've been touched by angels) for a 600ish acrylic tank.. :D

One huge, better water stability and more possibilities
