one inch arowana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thats a little drastic... It is only after coming to MFK that most think their tank is too small :)

At 1" your are fine in the tank you have... And when he starts to grow then it will be fun :) Upgrade!!! Upgrade!! and More upgrades :) All my tanks were and still are products of upgrading :)

Your baby aro will be much easier to care for in the smaller tank for now. Feeding and keeping excess food takin out is much easier safer and better in my opinion while young in a smaller living space that is still more than adequate for the size. I personally would have started with a 20.. Thats just me :) Then I would move up from there.

Come on guys, you wouldn't bring a newborn home from the hospital and put it to sleep in a king-size bed... As tongue33 says, it will be easier to care for a baby in a smaller environment.
Muhammad, I understand you've been told it's an Australian Arowana. Here is a page that has information on water temperatures, and such.

It says that bloodworms are a good food for babies. I think that frozen ones might be more nutritious though.

Have you kept many fish before?
Do you understand how to 'cycle' your fishtank and do partial water changes to maintain good water quality? If you are new to this, I suggest you read everything you can about 'cycling' tanks, filtration and testing/maintaining water paramaters [quality]

I have never had an Arowana... Yet... but my good friend owns a petstore, and he has a beautiful 2 ft. Silver, and we've talked about it much... He recommends good quality pellet food when it is a little bigger, he tries to stay away from live food because it can be less nutritious, although he treats it with freeze-dried crickets [but not for tiny babies]
Does it still have its yolk-sack [the little yellow balloon under it]?

Don't know about the rest of you, but i would love to see a pic of this little guy.
I wonder where he got one so young? Never heard of a 1 inch aro for sale before.
And if it's so small, it should still have it's yolk sac, so why would it be eating dried bloodworm. Very strange!
We need answers!

Your gonna need a bigger tank at least a 50+ and astraulian aros can be kept from 75-80 degrees and if it still has its yolk sac then dont feed it anything until the yolk sac is gone then u can feed him bloodworms, crickets, feeder fishes, freeze dried shrimps, arowana pellets etc and if u start feeding ur arowana feed as much as it can eat in 5 minutes and after u find out how much it eats in 5 minutes u should do that twice a day when you wake up in the morning and once at night and i also have a austraulian/jardini arowana right now and im keeping it in a 40 gallon tank and he's about 4 inches and im planning to get a bigger tank soon and always remember to cover the top of the tank so the arowana won't jump out
