Yeah thanks. I just bought some DAP Aquarium silicone from Menards. I just threw a solid bead around the whole thing and Im gonna let it sit for a day and go after it with a razor very safely to remove any unnesisary (sp?) silicone.
Should have ran tape lines then pulled them soon as you finished running the silicone for a clean look =O

Thats quite a find.I have gotten both of my 55 gallon tanks from the sidewalks and I even sold one of them.

Incredible find. I had a 180 that had a leak, it split a seam. I used aquarium safe silicone and a razor blade to remove the old and basically sealed it like you would a bathtub except you make sure the silicone gets completely between the glass panels. I used a couple of wood glue braces to hold tank firmly until dry. Never leaked after wards but had to sell it as I wasn't allowed to bring it back in lol. If it's silicone, Seal from the inside on the bottom and cover it.

Today I was driving around town and I noticed a big glass image out of the corner of my eye. Turns out, it was a fish tank. I figured it was being picked up by someone but I figured what the heck lets just see what this is all about. Rang the door bell, some guy answered and told me the tank had a "small leak" and i could take it if I had a way to lift it. A few phone calls later, the thing was loaded up and to my house. Its 135 gallons, (172"x18"x24"). I just filled it to see how bad the leak was, but not a single drip of water came out of it so I am going to leave it filled for a few days and see if its just a slow leak that I could repair myself. Has anyone done any leak repairs? if so, what did you use and how did you go about applying it? (did you remove the old silicone and completely replace it?)
Well heres a pic of the newly discovered monster. Enjoy! Let me know what you think! Dont mind the poor quality of the pictures, it was taken with my phone. ENJOY!

Good Pick Bro, I once picked-up a 55.

Foolish me! Okay so this is an acrylic tank. This much i knew. I wasnt aware that silicone was never used in the first place. Does anyone know anything about fixing a leaking acrylic tank? Even though the tank legitimately does not leak in the first place

There would have to be a visible crack then. Check closely with a good magnifier.

does that tank have an overflow in it? if so make shure the tank water doesnt leak into the overflow area, and also make shure the overflow area isnt leaking.
