One more Dovii sexing thread

So I've had these for about a month and can't figure out the sex, or I'm just clinging to the hope of having a male, any input is appreciated

When I got them both were the same size but #1 has grown considerably more and is definitely more aggressive. #1 seems to look like pic #3 unless I get up close to the tank then it looks like pic #2. They're both somewhere around 3.5" - 4.5". I can see SLIGHT spotting on the dorsal/anal fins of both but only if I look closely. There is also a lot more blue/green in the face and on the dorsal of both than the pics show.

Excuse the dirty back of the tank, pain to clean back there and they constantly splash..

Well that's what I was hoping to hear haha I'm wondering why the bigger one doesn't have spotting above the lateral tho. It used to but they faded and are barely visible now.

Yea man shocked me how fast they put on size, my size estimate is probably off. They eat like pigs!! They're loving massivore and a ridiculous amount of water changes. Thanks again!

Can't say the same for the rest of them lol only one small guy left, it's a warrior! No traces of any of the others either, snacks maybe? I did find one in a powerhead I had in there.. oops

I think so too. First one is definatly male. The second looks more female.

That'd be rad if that was the case! If it is it's an abusive relationship, that pic of them together is probably the closest that they've ever gotten without the bigger chasing the smaller one around the tank

Is it odd that the bigger one doesn't have spots above the lateral line? I think that's the main thing that's had me wondering about that one

The second one could be a female like the guys said cause the very smooth black lateral line says female to me. I had a female with speckles thought it was male and my big male didnt get speckles till like 5 6 inch so......

Try dividing them for a week or two and see if you can't get some magic started
