Ok first off I'm studying neuroscience for humans but I did look into some stuff on a fishs nervous system awhile back and I'm pretty sure it's not living in pain. the Fishes pain receptors respond to constant stimuli much the same as baro receptors in humans do. The brain stops processing the signal after a certain time. So I doubt it is in pain
