Keeping large Pacu in tanks is a catch 22 situation. In a small tank they cant swim around and school so you miss out on some of their natural and playful behaviour. If they are in a largish tank however, they can get some momentum happening when they spook. A friend of mine once had some Pacu which burst the end off his glass tank, not from smashing into it (although they did do that frequently too) but simply from the hydrostatic force wave generated when one turned and swam away rapidly. He happened to watch the whole thing happen like slow motion and his story has stuck in my mind since it made such an impression on him.

I keep mine in a 3mx1mx1m acrylic tank and wince sometimes when they slam into the ends. I can feel the impact travel through air s well as hear it. I cover the end so they can see the boundary a little easier but I would never keep large fish in glass.
I agree you do miss there natural schoolign behaviour, which does spoil them and make them lose some of there appeal.

If that Pacu is 22 inches, then those feeders are about 5 inches each. You have very nice fish. There is no need to fool us about their size.

LOl-It's been proven over many of forums-Nice try there guy-Everyone that knows me,knows damn good and well that pacu is everybit of 22 inches-LOL-Those are not feeders either-Just a touch of color-

8 years old-I would have to Simply "guess" it to be around the 30 to 32 inch mark-

yes your very good at figuring it .. i could not find my yard stick or i would have added it into pics.. he is 30 inches last time i measured.and no more red belly.. it does dissapear as they get older and bigger...little red bellies way back when.....haha

Very nice-I'm decent at guessing since I have one simalair size(Quite a bit smaller really-LOL)

Here is a few more pics of my guy when smaller-

This is the truelly magnificient part-He is just over the two year old mark-I got started in this hobby around June time of 05'-I feed him better than most and he also see huge water changes(multiple times weekly).I keep my water as pristine as possible-And run excellent filtration as well.I look to get some more excellent growth rates out of him-Once i get his butt transferred into the new tank-I just wont see ne thing else out of him in this 125-But my ammonia is still high in the big tank-Thats alls I'm waiting on now-
