Because it is seriously black, pindu has been very hard for me to get even a pic fair of, got lucky yesterday with this one.
some of the pindu tank mates below, Saratherodon linnelli.
I have not really found them to be overly aggressive, as long as the fish they are with are not small enough to eat.
When I first had them, about 10 years ago, they would spawn in a cichlid community tank, and I'd occasionally find 1 or 2 fry hiding under logs, so they can handle themselves well, and are very stealthy.
They don't get too large, maybe 7"-8".
The pair I have now are young, and slightly less than 3", but are housed with fish double their size.
They are mouthbrooders, and after a number of 1 or 2 fry spawns, I found out it is best to strip the female 12-14 days after spawning. Caught her in a large net, and she spit 14 fry into it. (phone pic)
A large male, also from before I had a real camera, interesting almost prehistoric face.
I have pindu with larger Sarotherodon linnelli and a couple Synodontus cats.
In the past I have kept them with Central Americans, and Madagascans without problems. The pindu are very fast.
