yea i was thinking some black sand
 
personally I would not use any ornaments and add some nice rocks and maybe driftwood, but I am the fishkeeper that prefers that the tank look as natural as possible, but thats just me so do what you like. I agree with the black sand looking nice

no its a natural short body texas that my old big fella lol

and yea just pick up some black sand purple lights and a black background and i agree with you i like the all natural look to i would be adding driftwood or woods also:D

he doesn't see bichirs as a threat since they only occupy the bottom realm :)

I would get a few more deco, just incase he decides to turn nasty on the bichirs.
