Just out of personal curiosity....Have you actually tried a Nattereri/Sanchezi cohabitation?

yeah there has been a fair amount of research into the parasitic relationship between S. sanchezi and pygos, and even in captivity, the sanch is generally able to feed on fins unimpeded by the pygos. It's even been documented in captivity. It may not be good for your pygos constantly being nipped by a serra, but it seems like the serra is well adapted to its role as fin nipper.

Yeah, I guess you're all right. A friend of my Uncle knows a guy that has a neighbor that has a friend that says his Dad tried to keep a Sanchezi with Reds and it ended in disaster....

In reality there is a Green Sunfish put in the tank as food that poses more of a threat to the Sanchezi then the Reds ever thought about.

I just received my import license and have a fairly impressive exporter that will soon be selling me a myriad of Piranha species at ridiculous, some might say insanely cheap prices. At that point I'll be doing all kinds of cohabs and am certain I'll dispel quite a few myths about these fish. I'll also be selling Piranha and other species for far less than I've ever seen them for sale on my site.

Not as much as a fin nip in the 2 months or so they've been together. This Sanchezi was raised in a tank of Pygos which I think is a factor in this cohab.

The Sanchezi is also for sale should anyone feel the need to ''rescue'' it from doom....$40 and it could be yours.

I was sort of agreeing with you dude...

By well adapted I meant that nipping RBP's doesn't result in instant death. If you mean that S. sanchezi is going to stop nipping fins you're living in a fantasy. Personal experience isn't going to change the ecological niche a species evolved for millions of years to occupy. If nature can't prevent sanchezi from being a parasitic fin nipper (in fact she encourages it) in a the amazon (eg a tank that constitutes roughly 25% of the worlds fresh water) then nobody is going to accomplish it in a tank of any size.
