One of those "Guess what I found at Wal-mart?" thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
unfortunately for those knives most won't even make it past the store itself, at the only wal-mart by me, I've never seen anyone actually buy a fish

the wal mart here stopped selling fish but when they did a few years ago the guy that was the supervisor over the pet department tried to tell me that some of their fish was marked small medium and large and the fish that was marked small stayed small medium stayed medium and large got large ... said genetically enginereed that way ............I have never laughed that hard at anyone in such a long time and he still works there in the pet department everytime I am there and see him I laugh

I don't get the amusement people get at Walmart fish departments...It's Walmart, what are you expecting? Do you go there expecting to get great fashion advice too?

i just love how whenever someone on here mentions seeing something at the walmart fish department, they always tell how they just happened to be in the store and just happened to end up on that isle, lol, but n e way, the walmart here always, and i mean every time i go in there, has a tank with a bunch of dead snails in it, all of them laying around a little clear bucket of aquarium salt, what makes it worse is the sticker with info on the snails says very clearly "do not use aquarium salt"

That's a nice looking melon sword.

werd.

Plus there is a rare possibility of someone buying a clown knife or two for their 55 gallon they bought there. Then educating themselves (I hate to name drop but a good example is Pacu Mom) She now has her pacu and oscars she bought in a 55 gallon moved to a 300 gallon and shes working on a 15 foot tank.
So please dont assume all cases are gonna be a disaster. Besides everyone who responded knew that was BS and maybe for some it would be convenient to get a cheap clown knife there that they could home properly.

Ill admit its really easy to bash wally world but come on.. Its too easy and a cheap laugh at best. You dont like it don't buy it. If someone buys it for a 10 gallon then so be it they either get educated or the fish dies. Either way it was raised in captivity and somebody profited selling it to wal mart so the economy side of the fish being purchased is a good thing at least.

Yeah I can see it now, Woman walks in with BF and goes " ooooh look how pretty". Next thing you know its in their 10 gallon. Yeah it sure is sad, but this is happening everywhere. Thousands and thousands of fish are being tortured and dying cause they are sold to kids or morons who think it looks cool or pretty. Sometimes when you even tell someone that they arent taking care of the animal properly they refuse to be reasonable. Its like they rather let it die in their 10 gallon.

Guys, what's the big hairy deal? Goldies get sacrificed to bowls every day, and you guys are talking about the HORROR of a few CKs getting the knife. Think of a goldfish. Think of the one you fed to your fish last week, the one in terrible conditions. The one that would be doomed to a bowl otherwise.

Well played.

Sucks for the individual fish, but let's not kid ourselves into thinking all or even most of the CK's, pacus, aros, hell even oscars sold at the LFS get a much better fate than the walmart fish do. Yea a lot of these may die in somebody's 10G, but the ones sold at the LFS that go into somebody's MONSTER 55 (lol) aren't that much better off.
