I am still unsure on what to get, I would like an oscar....but I am also wanting something I have never had before, I did forget to mention I also have a male convict...him and the nicaraguan cichlid are always going at it! but neither have caused damage to each other, I have been looking on youtube for inspiration...but as yet I am still very un-decided, I did notice quite a few seemed to have mixed tanks with africans and americans so maybe I could broaden the horizons if I had some ideas on suitable african cichlids that may fit in.

they are something that I was looking at! incredibly beautiful fish! not something I have ever seen at any aquatic shops by me though sadly....something similar to that would fit the bill perfectly though! :)

Checkout uaru if you can get your hands on one maybe a blue acara or a rotkeil those are my favorites. I like the oscar idea as well though. I like fire mouths too there cheap wich is a bonus and they have an attitude or atleast pretent to lol.

Synspilum don't have the wet pet characteristics of the Oscar. They just do their own thing.

yeah I have to admit the oscars do have the real appeal of being a proper "pet" fish....just wondered if my tank will be enough for one with everything else I have already.

uaru are not really something that interest me really, but thanks for the idea! I already have a red shouldered and a gold severum, firemouths are nice...but don`t think they would last long at all in with the current residents sadly.

well....I gave in, saw a gorgeous little tiger oscar at a LFS and took the plunge, he seems to have settled in great already....feeding away and investigating everything, the others seem to be leaving him alone too...some interest, but no signs of aggression as of yet :)
