One seriously sick thought

All ich dies when the temperature is 85 or higher, hopefully that helps. Usually people don't even bother using ich meds unless it's a severe case of life & death.

If you're doing so many water changes with R/O without reconstituting it I'm not surprised they died, rainbows enjoy very mineralized water. IME celebese do fine in fresh water just not soft water. Just be careful about overthinking things, you know an ecosystyems resilliance comes from what's thrown at it over time, just like us. (however, if you are reconstituting it then no offense intended, I just thought I'd mention)

I've always found that copper rids us of invertabrates very easily. Ich goes first, being very small, but just be careful about your shrimp and snails : ). But copper sulf is IMO the most obvious and ubiquitous solution, just treat it right ; )

I have always used Ich Clear tablets and they work fast.

They are finally gone. I was not reconstituting the water at first and I do think that was the cause of death for me Celebes. When I gave it more thought and started doing that the few that were left began to look better, but most of them died anyway. I have one male that made it through. I love the Celebes rainbows, but I think I am not going to replace them for now. I am likely going to be moving out of state, so I am starting to simplify things.

anyone tried a really high power uv sterilizer?? along with treatments to kill the eggs
