One shot of the Argentea

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I know personally how hard a silver fish is to photograph. Nice job. Lost some detail in the highlights on the top of the fish but that's going to happen with highly reflective fish no matter what.

Thanks everyone for the comments! ;)

Very nice for a non DSLR... did you use an external flash or something?

The only light I used for this shot was the little 15 watt fluorescent bulb that I've had on that tank. It creates a nice spotlight within while also providing some darkness on the sidesof the tanlk. Other than that I just decreased the exposure time quite a bit to try and counteract how reflective he is.

Thanks Modest_Man. This particular fish is definitely the one of the hardest to photograph for that exact reason. The majority of the other shots I took made him look like some bleach-white aura floating through the tank.

Beautiful, one of my favorites. Great picture!

iz dat sum variation of a albino oscar? never seen it be4
.....nice pic tho, kinda ugly fish IMO

He looks amazing !!!!! how big are the T macs ? and how are they doing with him ?? What sice tank are they in ?

I am getting ready to switch my 220 over to something very similar.

Again, thank you all for the kind words, I really appreciate that! cichlid fiend, I'm really sorry to hear that - they're definitely worth setting up a seperate tank for though! ;)

Thank you very much barley pop. The Macs/Aureum (not sure exactly what they are) are about 2". My Argentea has always been very passive with other fish. I've kept Swordtails, Plecos, Sajica, and Passiones with him before without any aggression issues. He does like to stress his dominance around feeding time and bully the other fish out of their food, but other than that he plays nice. He and the three Thorichthys sp. share a 125.

That is awesome to hear !!!! i am picking up a 9-10"er in a few weeks that will be going in the 220 with a pair of Sajica 4-5 HRPs and a few Macs.
