Ive always wondered why it has been so difficult to get clown loaches to spawn in captivity?

It takes many years for them to reach maturity, and most loaches don't make it to breeding size. Also, they breed in very specific conditions in the wild.

Amazing. Excellent post. I don't consider this cheating if it's helping advance the hobby and allow for alternative means of obtaining fish.

I agree, unfortunately international copyright laws (which also support intellectual property rights) disagrees. Better shoot them an email, I'm sure they'd have no problem with you doing this, but they might cause a fuss if they don't know.

On the other hand, awesome article. Got it in my e-mail and was very impressed with this. Not quite practical for most home breeders, but cool none the less.

I don't think it would take much effort to try it.

I don't think it's that easy. You'll have to inject the fish with hormones so if you don't know what you're doing you can easily kill the fish.

Agreed. Would require some advice, but I have a source for some cyprinid gonadotropin. Not really all that interested in breeding, but if I could do it with a general knowledge base and it wouldn't run too much money, I would try it. I'll try and put some info together and see what I can come up with.

thats way to much just to get clownloaches hahaha. Id rather spend the money and buy them at 3-4''
