A few weeks back my female motoro got sick and didn't make it through the treatment. I treated the tank with melafix for one week, then pima fix for one week, and everything seemed fine. I now have one ray that is bloated, and less active, but still eating and a tigrinus cat that is now acting oddly and seems sick. I am at day 3 or a second melafix regiment, as it seems bacterial infectin was the culprit lst time, and am in the process of a 30% change to ensure proper water quality/paramers. I would also like to raise the temp into the mid to high 80's if possible. My question is, will the rays be ok somewhere around 86? I keep reading mixed opinions online, so, if some of the more experienced keeper could steer me in the right direction, that would be great. thanks

I just noticed while doing the water change that there are dozens of these little white worms swimming around the tank. I have never seen anything like these before. Has anyone seen them before? I'm wondering if they are a harmful parasite or something like Cyclops? I have no idea where they could have came from. Possibly the frozen fish I was feeding them (basa/tilapia/earthworms) I now suspect that these may be the culprit behind my problems. Any help at this point would be greatly appreciated

First thing is find out what the problem is before raising temp, treating, etc. check all params

Small white worms are usually planaria which says tank is very dirty.

Sounds as though you have Planaria as mentioned above, it is from a dirty tank but i have had this myself during a period of 3x 50% water changes a week so be sure to check for hidden debris particularly in your substrate and filter, of course a water changes is mandatory but be vigilant to hidden waste.

With regard to your question about temperature, i've kept my rays at 84F for prolonged period with no difference, i have touched 86F and they were fine but i always endevour to decrease temperature from this point due to the lack of oxygen in the water and the demand of oxygen my peacock bass have.

Ya high temp for short period of time only. I just went through the faulty heater situation and it stuck at 85 for i don't know how long. Fish we breathing heavy. Didn't take well to it. I agree check all water perams and go from there before doing anything.
