Online shop or support LFS??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The relationship of LFS and customer, if it is good, is very rewarding. A good LFS if given the chance, ie. through purchasing support, will support its customers by getting in fish that their customers want. Most will often barter and give good deals on fish as well. If we just order our supplies online and never develope anything with the LFS we all miss out a bunch. It is not just about money, it is a hobby. When I have worked at stores I would actively and aggressively pursue fish that my good customers wanted. It was partly to do the store a service and partly to do the customer a service. This cannot and never will happen with online purchasing.

Looking to buy a Ehiem 2217 Should I pay a premium just to support my LFS?

I bought the Ehiem at the LFS yesterday. Felt good...Owner of LFS happy... Fish happy... Setup easy... I'm happy... Spray bar does a great job sending debris and detris towards the corner box of the wet/dry. Having the additional filtration has already made a big difference and the amount of suspended matter in the water is no longer an issue.

Having Monster Fish is sooo much fun hearing the water splash and seeing a good body slam.. :grinno:

Good call. It comes down to the quality of the store. I would by from my lfs in a heartbeat in this situation. He's awesome to me, and with the deals he's given me in the past, I've already saved that $40. I don't really care how much profit he's making, he gets me what I want, and takes care of me. There's payback in good service, and he deserves it.

I say support the lfs. The internet comes in handy from time to when I get stuff for my planted tanks from Amano Aquatics but my lfs always has me covered in any other area so far!!!
