Online Vendors

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's pretty obvious from my experiences that Jeff Rapps is head and shoulders above the rest of the vendors on this site, and to me, it's not even close. You pay extra for that quality and customer service just as you should.

I guess I'm just looking for someone who can at least hang with him just a teeny tiny little bit. But so far, nada. :irked:

I think cichlid connection and shark aquarium can depending on what you're looking for and availabilty. I also live I FL though, so cichlid connection is closer and therefore cheaper as far as delivery goes. My last fish from shark aquarium (festae) is quality as well, but I paid alot for shipping

As far as Florida, I've purchased from snookn21 in Ft Myers multiple times (he's in mfk vendor section) and his shipping is pretty affordable for FL or any other state and nice packaging and stock too.

Airport to airport is also a cheaper option for shipping. Door to door can be quite expensive, especially for overnight. Shipping costs are up because of high fuel costs...and not totally under the control of the people selling fish.

Check out JD Gentry's thread... he sells some great fish. And can get discounted shipping rates through his work..

Cichlid Connection and Ira primarily re-sell Don Conkel Fish (Dan Ye to a less extent). Depending on your opinion of Conkel - a whole nother of worms ;) - these could be good sources for you...

So whats that suppose to mean,i have purchased from Ira over a dozen times and have never been dissapointed, and i must say that i have never been dissapointed in any of don conkels fish that i have recieved(a whole nother can of worms)for some one pushing for folks to get involed with fish clubs and the aca,and capital cichlids that was a pretty low blow.

Would love to make a purchase from Ira, just waiting to hear back...

I've never purchased any fish from Ira, but came close a couple of time and definitely will in the future. He's very prompt with responses and his customer service is top notch. Also doesn't hurt that he's within driving distance :)

I have heard great things about the service and health of fish that Ira and Cichlid Connection sell.

That said, they primarily re-sell fish from Don Conkel, who is - like it or not - a controversial figure in the cichlid hobby. As a result, one's opinion of the fish that he sells - directly or through re-sellers - is related to one's opinion of Don.

To be fair, CCA had Don as the speaker for last month's meeting. Those who are inclined to believe everything that he says walked away believing a lot more amazing things about him and his operation. Others walked away with the same lingering concerns...and more questions. Probably because, as I was told, that he gave almost exactly the same presentation that he gave at the ACA convention in 2004.

The OP can search "Conkel" if he wants to open the proverbial "can of worms" on this subject. I'm not gonna wade in...
